Maya was truly a joy to spend time with. I was not sure what to expect when I first met her. I knew it would be very different to connect with her through language because Bulgarian is challenging to learn. Maya seemed shy at first, but after getting to know her she was very open and fun to talk to. I took her and some of my classmates to a lookout view in La Canada, where we ate breakfast and talked about many interests she had. I found out that she was very interested in watching anime which is something we bonded over. Additionally, we talked about her interest in Bulgarian Art. She gave me multiple artists to research. I ended up finding Dechko Uzunov who she told me. I really enjoyed his numerous paintings. I enjoyed the company of Maya and hope to go on another outing with her before she departs.
