The Corona Virus

According to The New York Times, the Biden and Sanders campaign is closing the offices and telling the staff to work from home. Italian doctors are having to confront unthinkable choices about life and death. And New York among multiple other states will have to ban most gatherings of more than 500 people, including at Broadway shows. Additionally, most professional sports leagues have been canceled. The Coronavirus has become the number one information on all stations and is frightening many people. What scares me most about the Coronavirus is how people seem to be perceiving it. It is apparent that the virus is bad and spreading rapidly worldwide, but people speculating and making up false facts only makes the virus seem worse than it is. The ignorance of some is what other people are going off of, which makes the virus seem unstoppable, which is simply not the case. Most people are healing from the virus and are functioning fine.
My grandfather is disabled and has to stay in the house most of the time. He chooses to listen to the news to occupy his time. After I get home from school I hear how scared he is about getting the coronavirus. Fortunately, he barely leaves the house so he would not be able to get the virus that way, but conversely, my mother and I leave the house multiple times a day for many reasons. This scares and makes him think of the worse possibilities. What makes it so bad for me is the fact that my grandfather has recently been telling me to be safe each day before I leave for school. It's unfortunate that a virus that started on the opposite side of the world has affected him this much.
